Steed Finance Company

STEED FINANCE COMPANY was founded by Charles R. Steed in 1957. His wife Diane joined him in 1973 and their daughter, Susan, took over operations of the company in 2017. We buy, sell, and finance Colorado land. Investment tracts, riverfront land, trout fishing land, hunting land, mountain land, building sites, farm land, and ranch lands are what we have! We offer our land for cash or terms; the kind of deal makes property quite affordable to many. Since we own the land, there are no broker commissions or closing fees that usually go along with real estate transactions. And we have no pre-payment penalty, so you can pay off your note early if you choose! About the land

The properties which I own and am offering for sale are surrounded by the gorgeous Rocky Mountains. Several million acres of national forest and state land are available for the public to use for fishing, hiking, hunting, and other outdoor activities. At an elevation of 7500′ and greater, my properties experience four beautiful seasons so there is always something to do! My properties have low property taxes, are on good existing roads, and have survey markers on the corners and corresponding survey maps so boundaries can be easily located.

About the Area

The properties I own are all near good shopping and medical facilities and even a four-year college, Adams State College, in Alamosa. The town of Alamosa boasts having a warm outdoor geothermal swimming pool, golf courses, and many hotels and restaurants. Hotels include Inn of the Rio Grande (with indoor water park activities), Hampton Inn, Fairfield Inn, Best Western, Holiday Inn Express, and Super 8. Restaurants include Chili’s, San Luis Valley Brewing Company, McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Little Caesar’s Pizza, San Luis Valley Pizza Company, IHOP, and several Mexican restaurants serving local specialties. Alamosa also has two large grocery stores, City Market and Safeway, a Walgreens pharmacy, and everything else you would expect a college town to have.

The surrounding area boasts a wide variety of scenic and outdoor activities for all to enjoy!  Winter sports – skiing, snowboarding, and snowmobiling – are among the most popular!  Wolf Creek, about 80 miles away, is the closest ski area.  Monarch and Taos, NM, each about 100 miles away, aren’t much further and all get excellent snow!  Other activities include hiking and sandboarding at the Great Sand Dunes National Park, wildlife viewing, four-wheeling, zip lining, scenic train rides, and horseback riding.  The area also has several hot springs, including two very close to Alamosa and several more near Pagosa Springs, CO.  A little further away, you will find world-class white water rafting on the Arkansas River!  There is truly something for everyone!
